FBI, Cache County Sheriff’s Office investigating explosive material found at Providence residence

The FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are investigating an incident in which explosive material was found at a 22-year-old man’s house in Providence.

According to a press release sent by the Cache County Sheriff’s Office, sheriff’s office deputies were responding to a medical involving a 22-year-old male and explosive material.

When they arrived at the residence, they discovered explosive material and contacted the local bomb squad. Due to the nature of material found, the FBI and ATF were contacted to assist with the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing and will continue for the next few days, the press release says.

Both 125 North and 400 E in Providence and Bluff Street between Spring Creek Parkway and 280 North will be open to local traffic only.

The Center for Creativity, Innovation and Discovery Charter School will also be closed Thursday as the investigation continues.
