Finalists for VP of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to participate in campus interviews this week
Two finalists for the vice president of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion position at Utah State University will participate in open forums on campus this week.
Students can attend the open forums in person or join on AggieCast. According to Emilie Wheeler, the news director for University Marketing and Communications, there will be the opportunity for attendees to ask questions to the applicants and provide feedback after the event.
“On-campus interviews are a critical part of the hiring process for an executive-level position such as this,” Wheeler said in an email. “They allow the university community an opportunity to engage with each applicant in person, and the applicant has a chance to experience USU and Logan – and decide if they can see themselves living and working in Cache Valley. Open forums provide a way for each applicant to communicate their experiences and share a vision for this new position at USU.”
The open forum for Rick Acevedo, the current Career, Co-Op & Entrepreneurial Center director and clinical professor at University of Detroit, will be on April 12 from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
The open forum for Jane Irungu, the current associate provost of Inclusive Excellence at University of Oklahoma, will be on April 15 from 1-2 p.m.
Both forums will take place in the auditorium of the Eccles Conference Center.
In addition to the open forums, the finalists will participate in group interview meetings with student leaders during their two-day campus visits.
The third finalist for the position, Whitney Gaskins, the current assistant dean of Inclusive Excellence and Community Engagement at the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Science, will participate in an open forum on May 3 from 1-2 p.m in the Evan N. Stevenson Ballroom in the TSC.
