Who says married folk can’t make beautiful music together?

Saturday night, The Winstons will debut in Utah in the Eccles Conference Center at 7:30 p.m.

A husband and wife duo, The Winstons have been playing together for the last 15 years. They are based out of Boulder, Colo. Cheryl Winston is a music school graduate and is an accomplished guitarist, pianist, singer and harmonica player. Her husband, Andy, has performed as a singer, guitarist, bassist, drummer and saxophonist.

The couple tried a traditional career route after their graduation and marriage, then “one morning, we woke up and asked ourselves, ‘What are we doing?,'” Andy Winston said. “After that, we kind of rededicated our lives to the music.”

The Winstons have recorded two CDs and are working on finishing their third. They have received radio play on folk, pop, country and bluegrass stations. The two have played as far away as Canada and Reston, Va., and recently played in Charleston, W. Va., with national acts Nickel Creek and John Gorka.

The Bridger Folk Music Society is sponsoring the concert.

“In northern Utah there are a fair number of opportunities for acoustic music to be performed and viewed,” said Mark Brunson, who organized the concert. “The Winstons are national-quality musicians, and with the Bridger Folk Music society we are providing the people of this area to experience this talent on a very affordable scale.”

Tickets are $12 at the door or $10 in advance and for students. Tickets can be purchased at Sunrise Cyclery, 138 N. 100 East; Chapter II Books, 136 N. 100 East; Accents, 57 S.
