Food Services has new plan for students to digest

Utah State University Housing and Food Services has designed a new, easy-to-use meal plan for all students on campus.

The Aggie Value Meal Plan includes all campus food venues. Previous plans catered only to The Junction.

The card accompanying the plan can be used at The Hub, Carousel Square, The Junction, The Skyroom, The Quickstop, Quad Side Café, The Depot and Campus Pizza.

According to the application, the plan allows you to purchase 50, 75, 100, 150 or 200 meals in advance and save $200 or more each semester. Therefore, the more meals purchased, the more money saved, according to the application.

Alan Anderson, assistant director for Housing and Food Services, said, “It is an effort for us to get people to where they can buy an ‘X’ amount of meals up front and really get a good deal.”

The meal plan options can range anywhere from $294.94 to $1,018.88 per semester, depending upon the number of meals per week.

Tim Coulter, who is studying economics and English, said, “I love the meal plan because of its variety. I was getting sick of eating at The Junction all the time, and when I received the application in the mail, I didn’t think twice about signing up for the new plan.”

There are three steps to using the value plan, according to the application. First, after receiving their cards, students should look for the meal plan logo in each venue and select from the various meal options. The second step is to grab an “Express Card” at the venue. This helps the student and the cashier know what is included in the meal. Last, students should take their selections to the cashier, along with their “Express Cards” and Aggie Value Meal Plan cards. The cashier will ring up the orders and tell students how many meals they have remaining.

Anderson said, “[The Aggie Meal Plan] is pretty much a pilot program. We will see how it goes this semester and see whether students use it or not.”

Students can sign up by mail, in person or online at www.foodservices.usu.edu and follow the appropriate links.

For information on applications and card pickups, students can go to Housing and Food Services in the Student Living Center.
