FORMER AGGIE WINS HAMMER THROW AT

Former Aggie great James Parker won the hammer throw at the 2003 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships held in Palo Alto, Calif., last weekend. Parker won the event with a toss of 73.04 meters (239.07).

With his victory at the 2003 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Parker has put himself in position to go to the World Championships in Paris, France later this summer provided he meets the world championship standard throw which is 252.00 feet. There are several meets available for Parker both nationally and internationally for him to qualify for the World Championships.

Parker (Layton, Utah) was a nine-time All-America at Utah State, including a four-time Big West Champion in the hammer throw. During his senior season in 2001, Parker finished second at the NCAA Championships in the hammer throw as he led USU to an 18th-place finish.
