DUI charges dropped against former USU basketball player

Editor’s note: The Cache County Attorney’s Office has dismissed driving under the influences charges against Norbert Janicek. Norbert Janicek, former Utah State University Basketball player and Sigma Chi fraternity member, was arrested Saturday night and charged with driving under the influence, a Class B misdemeanor.

Janicek was also charged with driving without a driver’s license and changing lanes without using a turn signal, both infractions.

While he was on the team, Janicek played center. According to USU Basketball’s website, he did not compete in the 2017-2018 season after undergoing knee surgery.

Janicek has an arraignment set in Logan City Justice Court on April 30. Court documents show he has not obtained an attorney.

The USU Athletics department did not respond to requests for comment.

Do you report EVERY student who gets a DUI or just the athletes and fraternity kids? This isn’t news.

This is journalism in its poorest form. Shame on you. I just wish your kids make a mistake one day and end up in jail, and then I want to read your post about it.
