Frank Flowers to play at LCL

Kyle Olson, known on the stage as Frank Flowers, is performing at Logan City Limits.

According to Frank Flowers, his set for LCL will be extra-terrestrial, pulling inspiration from Katy Perry.

“I’m a huge Katy Perry fan,” Flowers said.

Logan City Limits should be an out-of-this-world experience.

“It takes a lot of vulnerability to release music for the whole world to see; he inspires me to be brave, creative, and outgoing,” said Jenna Olsen, Flowers wife.

Flowers started learning music on his father’s guitar when he was bored during the summers when he lived in middle-of-nowhere Idaho.

“My dad used to play guitar and had one in the house. I started playing it when I was a kid and kind of went from there,” Flowers said.

Flowers got started playing classic rock music that his father listened to. And he taught himself how to play the guitar by watching YouTube videos. He would watch the classic rock songs and teach himself the guitar solo of each piece. Thats when he started producing his own music.

“Life is so fun with Kyle and his music,” Olson said. “He records, mixes, and masters everything in our apartment, so it’s exciting to see the entire creation process.”

After mixing, recording and writing his own songs, Flowers began performing.

“I get inspiration from different artists based on whatever things they do that I like. Some, for example, are Still Woozy, just overall, his ability to produce music is insane. I pull a lot of inspiration from his production. Another artist is Theo Katzman, his composition is just unreal,” Flowers said.

Now, he has played a few shows in Logan.

“I would probably say that the best show I’ve played was the spring concert last year, during covid. I had to wear a mask while I sang and it was really awkward,” Flowers said. “Everyone was super spaced out and it was on the second floor of the Taggart Student Center in the international lounge. I opened for Guava Tree. Everyone just hadn’t done anything fun in so long, so it was so much fun even though it was kind of weird. That was probably my favorite show that I’ve ever played.”

Flowers favorite song to play is called “Overthink,” which is currently his only song currently on Spotify and Apple Music.

In the future, Flowers is looking forward to performing with his new band.
