Freshman pitcher Delaney Hull wins MW Player of the Week
Freshman pitcher Delaney Hull has been named the Mountain West Player of the Week ending March 25. This is the first Mountain West weekly honor of Hull’s career, and the second one given to a Utah State player this season.
Overall during the span of the week, Hull put up a 3-0 record in three games, and posted a 0.67 ERA. The freshman pitcher allowed 14 hits and two earned runs, along with striking out 14 players at bat and walking four.
Utah State went 3-2 on the week, starting with a 4-3 victory at Utah Valley, followed by a 7-5 loss to Idaho State in Orem, Utah. Over the weekend, USU took two out of three games at UNLV with winning scores of 5-2, and 6-0, in addition to an 8-0 loss in five innings.
During the game against UVU, Hull allowed five hits and two earned runs, while walking one batter and striking out six. In the first win against UNLV, Hull allowed five hits and two unearned runs while recording five strikeouts and two walks, while also including two assists. In the final against the Rebels, Hull pitched her third shutout of the series, while giving up only four hits. Along with that, Hull struck out three batters and walked one, and also contributed in two assists.
This weekend Utah State softball will host Nevada for a three-game Mountain West series. Should weather permit, the first two games will be played Thursday and Friday at 3 p.m. with the final coming on Saturday at noon.
