Golf ends season on high note
The Utah State golf team finished 13th at the Bill Cullum Invitational Tuesday, recording a 53-over-par 917.
Senior Chanse Godderidge finished, tied for 48th, after shooting an 11-over-par 227. Arizona State and Long Beach State tied for the win, as each team finished with an 11-under-par 853. Individual honors went to Arizona State’s Spencer Fletcher and Loyola Marymount’s Tyler Torano, as each finished with scores of 8-under-par 208.
Godderidge, the lone senior on USU’s team, averaged a final score of 75 strokes per round.
Freshmen Brennan Coburn and Andrew Paulson continued to improve play, after Coburn finished just one shot behind Godderidge at a 12-over-par 228, and Paulson recorded an 18-over-par 234. Freshman Tanner Jenson also competed for the Aggies, with a final score of 23-over-par 239, which was good for the 78th spot.
Junior Brendan Dennis, the fifth competitor for USU, shot a score of 21-over-par 237 for the tournament.
The Bill Cullum Invitational, hosted by Cal State-Northridge, was Utah State’s final tournament for the fall season. The team will pick up play again in February when it travels to Cedar City, for southern Utah’s Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational.
