Gov. Huntsman Names Theurer, Wright as Regents
Salt Lake City – Utah Governor Jon Huntsman announced the appointments of Teresa Theurer and Joel Wright as members of the Utah State Board of Regents today, replacing respectively Sara Sinclair and Josh Reid, who has decided to resign in July.
Teresa Theurer is serving on the Utah State Board of Education since being elected in 2000. She has served on numerous committees and boards during her tenure on the Board, including the Utah College of Applied Technology, the Public Education Job Enhancement committee, and several state and national health committees. Teresa graduated as a Registered Nurse from Weber State University.
“Teresa will be a tremendous asset as a Regent, with her dedicated experience on the Utah Board of Education and her medical background, she will be able to help guide our higher education system toward our 21st Century workforce needs,” Governor Huntsman said. “I am grateful for her willingness to serve in this important capacity.”
Joel Wright is a land use and planning attorney with Kirton & McConkie.He has served as an interim appointee to the Utah State Charter School Board since January 2007. Joel also served as a city councilman for Cedar Hills until January 2008. He earned his Bachelors of Art from Brigham Young University and his JD from New York University School of Law.
“As an attorney, a city councilman and a charter school board member, Joel has served the community in so many capacities,” Governor Huntsman said. “His perspective will be a great benefit to the Utah System of Higher Education.”
The names will be forwarded for confirmation from the Utah State Senate.
