Graduation due dates approaching quickly

The Registrar’s Office urges students who plan to graduate in the spring, summer or fall to be prepared and aware of deadlines.

Heidi Beck, associate registrar in Enrollment Services, said the deadline to file for graduation for this spring was on Oct. 15, 2001, but said students wanting to graduate in the spring can still apply but will be charged an additional $10 late fee to the regular $10 fee.

“It slows [the graduation process] down a lot, but if someone is in a pinch they can still apply,” Beck said.

To graduate in the summer or fall, deadline to apply is Feb. 15, 2002, Beck said.

She said students can go to the cashier located on the third floor of the Taggart Student Center to apply and pay the fee.

Beck said the Registrar’s Office has been advertising these deadlines through posters and banners in the TSC, in the schedule bulletin on Page 11 and on Semester at a Glance and Frequently Asked Questions online.

The Registrar’s Office has even worked with ASUSU to put graduation deadlines on the marquee outside the TSC, she said.

Beck said for students to guarantee they are on track to graduate at a specific time, students should see their adviser at least a year in advance to make sure they are aware of all the requirements for their degree.

“The earlier you start, the better,” Beck said.
