The Harlem Globetrotters are coming to Utah State University and will play the New York Nationals in the Spectrum at 7 p.m. Friday. The Tickets cost $12, $17, $20 and $35, and are available in advance or at the door.

The cost is determined by the Globetrotters, and there are no student discounts available.

The Globetrotters play exhibition basketball and are known for putting on a good show.

“My favorite is throwing water on people,” Globetrotters’ guard Wun Versher said. “I think everyone enjoys it.”

The team comes to Utah every year and was last in Logan two years ago.

“I love playing in Logan,” Versher said. “It’s a nice crowd and the people are very responsive.”

Versher is from Los Angeles and has been with the Globetrotters for eight years. Last year he was one of four players to receive the Victor Award which is the team’s lifetime achievement award.

The Globetrotters have a variety of opponents from all over the world.

“We’ll play anybody that will give us a game,” Versher said. “We do competitive shows where we play All-Americans or the national teams of different countries.”

Versher said the best part of being a Globetrotter is being able to travel.

“I love seeing different people and cultures and making people smile just by playing basketball,” he said. “Everything that we do is always positive. It’s a great job and a great opportunity.”

The team rarely loses. It has a 98.4 winning percentage over the 76 years it has existed. Versher said the crowd determines when the Globetrotters start doing tricks.

The Globetrotters’ last loss came against Michigan State University in November of 2000, snapping their 1,270 game winning streak.

“We could do it with no lead, with a 20-point lead [or] with a 10-point lead,” he said. “It varies depending on the night and the crowd.”

The Globetrotters recruit former college players, and Versher said joining the team was a great opportunity for him.

“I knew they were great, but I never thought I could play for them,” he said. “When I got the opportunity, I couldn’t turn it down.”

The Globetrotters will sign autographs for 30 minutes after Friday’s game.

“Signing autographs is a big part of the show,” Versher said. “A lot of people come and tell us how great the game was or talk to us about past games and players. It’s fun.”
