HITCHED – How to pick a wedding song

A couple’s first dance at a wedding is a beautiful, sentimental moment that is often one of the highlights of the day. This means the song needs to be just as memorable. As stressful as that sounds, it doesn’t have to be. Here are two simple things to keep in mind while choosing your music:

1. Choose a song that means something to you:

A wedding is a social affair but, more than anything, it is for you and your spouse. Choose a song that holds some special meaning between you. Perhaps it is a song you heard while on your first date together, a song you frequently dance to or a song that reminds you of each other. Whatever the reason, it should be important to you.

2. Choose a song that makes you feel:

We have that one song that every time we hear it, we want to run away from life and flee to Paris to fall in love. When you’re dancing with your new spouse, it should be to a song that evokes emotions and sentiment, so think of those tunes that let your inner hopeless romantic run wild.

Here are five great go-to love songs to help your wedding brainstorming:

  1. “All of Me” — John Legend
  2. “A Thousand Years”  — Christina Perri
  3. “Perfect” — Ed Sheeran
  4. “Thinking Out Loud” — Ed Sheeran
  5. “Can’t Help Falling In Love” —Haley Reinhart
