Hockey puts together complete game

Utah State’s head basketball coach Stew Morrill announced today the signing of Chris Huber to a national letter of intent to compete for the Aggies beginning in the 2003-04 season.

The 6-1 guard is currently a freshman at Dixie State College in St. George, Utah and will have three years of eligibility with the Aggies.

In eight games thus far at Dixie State College, Huber is averaging 7.9 points, 5.9 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 20.6 minutes per game.

He is shooting 39.2 percent from the field and 76.2 percent from the free throw line.

Dixie, the defending junior college national champions, is currently ranked fifth in the country with a perfect 8-0 record.

“We are delighted to have Chris joining our program,” said Morrill. “He brings a lot to the table. He’s an excellent all-around guard who possesses toughness and leadership qualities. The fact that he is a local product and will have three years of eligibility are huge pluses. This is just a great fit and makes sense. We are not only getting a very good player, but we are also adding an excellent student with high character.”

Huber prepped at nearby Bear River High School in Garland, Utah where he led the Bears to the Class 3A championship game during his senior season back in 1999.

He was a three-time first-team all-state selection at Bear River and averaged nearly 17 points per game as a senior.

Huber, who transferred to Dixie State College after redshirting last season at the University of Utah, picked Utah State over Boise State, Portland State and South Alabama.
