Humans of USU: Aggie fans respond to women’s basketball win

The Utah State women’s basketball team won 59-35 against The University of Nevada on Monday at the Mountain West Tournament in Las Vegas. Aggie fans Kelli Morrill, a senior in history teaching, and Braden Limb, a master’s student studying mechanical engineering, were there to see the victory. After they finished cheering, the two shared their game-watching experience with The Statesman.

Utah Statesman: What brings you guys to the Mountain West tournament?

Braden Limb: So we just came down here to watch basketball for the week. It’s a great place to go watch basketball because there’s multiple different tournaments going on. We’re just excited to be here.

US: What do you like about the Mountain West tournament?

Kelli Morrill: This is our first game!

BL: I like the whole atmosphere. Any of these conference tournaments are really fun to go to because we’re always expecting an upset. It’s fun to come and see all of the different teams here.

US: So this is your first time at the tournament?

BL: Yeah, so I’ve been down here in previous years for the WAC tournament, but this is the first year we’ve come down for the Mountain West Tournament.

US: How do you feel about the fan turnout?

BL: It’s not as big as it has been in years past from what I’ve seen, but it’s to be expected. Teams haven’t done as well as people have been used to in previous years, but there’s still a good group here.

US: How do you feel the women’s basketball team is doing this year?

BL: The women’s is doing pretty well. It’ll be interesting to see how they handle the better teams in the conference. It was good to get this first win under our belt against Nevada. Hopefully that keeps rolling against the next team.
