It’s all Greek to me

Bonnie McDonald

It’s that time of year again. The fraternities and sororities of Utah State University are vying to attract as many students to their houses as they possibly can during the week of Greek Recruitment.

Last year only 2 percent of the student body were members of fraternities or sororities. Many of the organizations are hoping to increase their numbers this year.

Courtney Michaels, the Panhellenic vice president of recruitment, said the Greek system has been on USU’s campus for over 70 years and offers opportunities for leadership, social interaction, responsibility and service. It also increases chances of building strong relationships with those involved.

“It’s something that is with you your whole life and really adds to it,” she said. The Greek community supports on-campus functions such as student body elections, homecoming events, street painting, football game attendance competitions between houses and Greek Week in April.

The schedule for Greek Recruitment week is as follows.
