Judges choose eight finalist for Aggie Homecoming Royalty

Tyler Riggs

The 2002 Utah State University Homecoming Royalty was selected Wednesday at the David B. Haight Alumni Center. Eight judges conducted interviews all day with 10 male and 10 female students to select eight finalists. The 20 nominees were judged on campus activities, honoraries and awards, future plans and goals, the meaning of being a True Aggie and their GPA.

Each nominee was asked two questions in the interviews. The two questions were, “What are your major contributions to USU?” and “How have you personally benefited from USU?”

What does it mean to you to be an Aggie?: Being involved on the outside of the classroom just as much as on the inside. I’ve learned inside the classroom how to balance an equation. But outside the classroom, I’ve learned about teamwork and cooperation and how to be a true friend.

What is your greatest fear?: My real greatest fear is snakes, and my more serious fear is having to grow up without my family around me.

What did you do to become homecoming royalty?: I’m not quite sure, but I sure had a lot of fun doing it.

What do you do to show school spirit?: I try to be as friendly to everyone as possible. I’m at the games; I’ve got the blue hair and the face paint. Hopefully, that shows my love for the Aggies.

If money were no object what would you do for a living?: I would travel, and I would love to teach.

What did you do to become homecoming royalty?: I have been involved in the community doing things with CAPSA. I am the president of a sorority on campus, and I’m the College of Education ambassador.

What do you do to show school spirit?: I helped organize the sorority to support the Aggies.

If money were no object what would you do for a living?: I would work for the ACLU. I would do that even if money is an object because I still want to help out.

What do you do to show school spirit?: I bleed Aggie blue. I always wear blue and try to be an example in every setting and every situation. I’m always recruiting people, trying to get them to come here.

If money were no object, what would you do for a living?: Besides traveling the world, I would probably do what I love to do: I love to design and be a landscape architect. I love to help the inner city people. There’s a lot of kids that have never seen a Frisbee before or haven’t had the opportunity to throw a football, and I’ve seen that before.
