Junior Curtis named top Aggie
Utah Statesman: How does it feel to be the Utah State University athlete of the week for the second consecutive time?
Kevin Curtis: I didn’t know I was. That’s cool. It’s a great honor just thinking about all of the people who have been named athlete of the week so it’s cool they consider me one of them.
US: How do you prepare for Fresno State University on Saturday?
KC: We just listen to what the coaches are telling us. They spend a lot of hours looking at tapes seeing what they do.
US: What are your overall feelings on the 2001 season?
KC: It’s been a lot of fun. There have been a lot of good things we’ve done. I’ve enjoyed playing with the guys. I guess the best way to describe it for me is a lot of fun.
US: Is there anyone you have bonded with this season?
KC: Not just this season but since I’ve been up here- Derek Jeffery. He’s probably one of the first guys I really got to know up here. Throughout this season we’ve just gotten to know each other better.
US: Who is your favorite opponent?
KC: I’d have to say Oregon. To play a team that was nationally ranked like that, it was a lot of fun to play one of the best teams in the nation.
US: On the field following the games there is a Kevin Curtis fan club, who are they?
KC: There’s some people that live by me back home [South Jordan] and one week after the game they said they were going to start some Kevin Curtis fan club and I was like, whatever. The next game they had shirts and all that. They’re just some guys from back home and I’ve just known them all my life. It’s kind of embarrassing.
US: Do you have any exciting plans for the off-season?
KC: Exciting, no. I really don’t have plans. I’m just going to relax for a little bit and let the body heal.
US: What is the best vacation spot?
KC: Hawaii. I’ve been there before.
US: What is your favorite TV show?
KC: I’m a big fan of Seinfeld.
US: Have you seen Harry Potter?
KC: I haven’t. I wouldn’t mind seeing it. I haven’t really gotten into all of that but I’ve heard a lot about it.
