LETTER: A real-life view of Greeks

Wylie Thomas

To the editor:

I really enjoyed the article in a previous copy of The Statesman. Universities and the media have a very different perception of Greeks than I do. I was born and raised in one of the most widely diverse ethnic cities in Utah. No it is not Salt Lake city or Ogden, rather Price, Utah. I grew up next door to people of Greek heritage. I went to school with kids whose grandparents and parents were recent immigrants from Greece. Every year I attended the amazing Greek festival, which commemorated traditional Greek foods, culture, dance, music and religion. The Greek festival is something the entire community participates in every year. My knowledge of Greeks is not in fraternities or sororities, but rather real people, who are real Greeks. People who give real service and love to their fellow man.
