LETTER: Check with LAEP for information
To the editor:
In the Jan. 26 edition of the Statesman there were several articles and editorials on the topic of managing growth and pollution in Cache Valley and on local governmental efforts to come up with a plan for dealing with these issues.
I was impressed with the number of local officials the Statesman had contacted, but was somewhat surprised that no effort had been made to contact faculty in the Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning department here at Utah State University.
It may be little known that there is more to landscape architecture than mowing lawns, but students and faculty of the USU LAEP department have been working on projects locally, regionally and across Utah and Idaho in an effort to develop better management tools and educate people about development options to prevent urban sprawl and pollution.
To find out more about how USU students and faculty are trying to make life here in the valley a little better, take a walk down the upstairs hall in the Fine Arts Building and visit the LAEP Department.
