LETTER: Column about marriage a laugh
Editor,
I’m writing to thank Jared Westbroek for his column on same-sex marriage. I was a little embarrassed reading it on the TSC patio because I was laughing so hard. It’s been a while since I’ve read an entire piece so comically centered around logical fallacies. He’s got some classics in there – non sequitur, appeal to consequences, slippery slope (my personal favorite, and the centerpiece of the column).
Of course I realize that the column was not meant to be satirical, but since there wasn’t a single valid argument in it I’m not going to bother rebutting. Jared, I applaud you, it takes real courage to put your stupidity on the table for the world to see. For those who missed the irony in that last statement, that’s an ad homonym.
