LETTER: Distractions not welcome

To the Editor:

Music on the Quad during classes is a bad idea.

I understand that during the first week of school it’s important to help students ease into their USU experience by providing entertainment and activities, but I was disappointed and annoyed Wednesday when the band on the Quad could loudly be heard in the classroom buildings surrounding the area.

I have a class in Ray B. West during that time, and I was trying to concentrate on an in-class writing assignment, the sounds of guitars and insufferable vocals of some “Emo is still cool” band broke my concentration.

There’s no problem having a band or a DJ play music in between classes, but some students just want to learn between 11:30 a.m. and 12:20 p.m., when they sit in a class they paid hundreds of dollars for.

Save the “Death Cab For Cutie” ripoff tour for Club NVO on a Thursday night, pack up your instruments, go back to your Jetta and buy some carrot sticks. Let me learn in silence.
