LETTER: Don’t forget other riders

Editor,

Fortunately, I have never been late to a class or missed a test because there was not enough room on the Aggie Shuttle bus for me. Unfortunately, there are many people who have and are left waiting each day, missing sometimes as many as two busses in a row that leave “full” of people.

The problem is that the buses are not actually full. Sometimes the people already on the bus are just unaware of the people still trying to get on. Now, this may not seem so bad at this time of year when walking to class is still possible without any major risks of freezing.

However, once it starts snowing and gets really cold, it will become more and more of a problem. The major issue is unawareness.

Our bus drivers do try and remind us to squish together and make room for the people who still need to get on, but it shouldn’t be left completely up to them to tell us to be courteous and try harder to make room on the buses for the extra few people needing to board the shuttles.

So, do the right thing – be aware of others, get out of your comfort zone, put your bags on the floor to make room, and fill up all the empty space in the bus. Wouldn’t you want the rest of us to do this for you if you were out waiting in the cold? The sooner we get on the bus, the sooner we can get to where we need to be.
