LETTER: Eating a burrito has more benefits

The Monday, Oct. 24 issue of the The Herald Journal inaccurately praised USU for their handling of student fees. When ASUSU or Administration (who ASUSU actually represents) wants to raise a fee they present it to a fee board. When the fee board denies it, Administration can then bring the fee to a student vote. The school then uses money they got from the students to produce positive propaganda and solicit more money from students.

All of this happens just a couple of dollars at a time. “Its just the price of a burrito,” an ASUSU member told me when trying to get support for the Blue Goes Green Fee last year. This year we paid $414 in student fees. Multiply that by the almost 14,000 student on campus at USU. That’s a lot of money and no checks on how efficient the money is being used.

I’d rather have a burrito.
