LETTER: Finally, independent journalism

Editor,

I believe that our generation is one of the first generations in a long time to see independent journalism.

ABC, NBC, CBS and the rest of the mainstream media is a liberal press and have been since the Vietnam War. This has caused a need for “independent” news sources such as Fox News.

Fox News would not be as successful as it is today had it not provided a voice for a certain people who felt disenfranchised by the network media. The idea that we are being “spoon fed” by shows like “The O’ Reilly Factor” is preposterous. They came about because there was an obvious need. You have to have cable to even watch it.

There has never been a time when the ordinary citizen has been presented with as much information as they are now. Anything you’re looking for can be found in 100 different viewpoints just by looking on the Internet.

There is a reason why it is said we live in the information age. It seems that the writer of the previous letter seems to think that because most people support the war and President Bush, that their basis for doing so must be “flawed.”
