LETTER: Give the little sports publicity

To the editor:

I spent the first two week of this semester working in our bookstore. I discovered something that concerns me. Most of the time, I was stationed in the Book-it Pickup window where students came to retrieve their books. I found out that this university offers scholarships for not just the usual basketball, football and volleyball. We have a golf, track and soccer teams. I had no idea that part of my tuition dollar goes to pay for these students. Why isn’t there more publicity for these sports? Beckham left the prestigious Spanish soccer league to promote his sport in the US. We should do our own promoting and actually let students know about all of the athletics available.
