LETTER: Grass for leisure, sidewalks for utility

Dear Editor,

The cutting, trenching and mucking of trails on campus grasslands is not uncharacteristic of many Aggie hominids. At campus corners and diagonals, trail trampling reveals a malady of consciousness – a mindless, unidirectional locomotion. Scolding or shaming isn’t the answer. Here’s an upbeat approach: With a supply of Tootsie Roll Pops at selected grass-barren shortcuts, greet those having tread the concrete with a smile, a Tootsie Pop and a “Thanks for using the sidewalk.”

To activists for grass conservation and campus beautification, contact me in the Financial Aid Office. I’ll furnish the “Pops.” (Plan on a nearby container for the Tootsie wrappers.)
