LETTER: Keep alliances in the closet
Editor,
A little note to wolves in Utah State clothing:
Enough! Mark LaRocco’s soapbox article Friday was the straw that broke this camel’s back. To BYU wolves in USU clothing across campus: Like BYU all you want on your own time but don’t waste student fees and university time promoting another institution in a Utah State University publication.
This has been boiling in the heart of this true Aggie for too long and now I just have to say it: It is not right to justify BYU “stealing” our school colors (thou shalt not steal); it is not right to see employees at the Bookstore decked out in BYU attire (thou shalt not commit adultery); it is not right to publish rosy articles about BYU in the Statesman (thou shalt not bear false witness); it’s probably not right to even like BYU while on campus (thou shalt not covet).
You would never see students at Duke, Oklahoma State or any other major university being caught dead wearing rival schools attire or even sympathizing with the enemy. Such stupidity is not acceptable there and it’s not acceptable at Utah State either. I may have been raised in a cougar den, but I saw the light and am extremely “bullish” about my allegiance now.
If you are wishy-washy on you allegiances, fine, but keep it to yourself. True Aggies don’t want to see it, or read it.
