LETTER: Learn to appreciate opposing viewpoints

To the editor:

Way to put your best collective “foot” forward, Aggies. I mean this, very sarcastically, concerning the utter outrage and angry rebuttals to Liz Emery’s article last week. By responding in hatred, spite and anger you are just feeding the fire that Liz kindled in her controversial article, and maybe even helping her prove a point.

In my opinion, the real point of the opinion section and Ms. Emery’s article were to get people to see how others may feel and to make people think about their personal beliefs. I can understand that most of you don’t agree with her points and you think they are unjustified. That’s great; tell us why. Don’t go saying things like, if she doesn’t agree with the religion maybe she should relocate. Ms. Emery has just as much of a right to live in this city and state as you do.

Many of you are seeing red as you read her article. Take a step back from your own ego and appreciate a different point of view and the country you live in which allows us all to think differently.
