LETTER: Logan Police manipulative

Editor,

As I was studying, the phone call came. The Logan City Police fund drive.

I’ve heard it from two different officers, but the message is the same. I can’t believe how deceptive it is.

They begin by asking “Is it important to you to support your local law enforcement?”

Only a criminal would say no. Then after a 30-second message they ask, “How much would you like to donate, $25 or $50?” Only two choices, isn’t that manipulation? What if I choose not to donate any money?

This offends me, because there are many mentally challenged and elderly residents in our community who are being taken advantage of. Many of them think they have to donate one of these two sums of money to the local police.

If they are trying to raise money for a good cause they should do it honestly. First, they should ask if the person would like to donate money and then ask how much.
