LETTER: Math errors in study letter
Dear Editor,
I would just like to point out some mathematical errors from the letter to the editor “Not enough hours in the week” in Wednesday’s Statesman.
It seems prudent to acknowledge that 12 credit hours does not translate into 36 hours of class time, but 12 hours of class time. Simple enough. Therefore, three hours of study time for every one hour of class is 36 hours of time needed to study as opposed to the 108 hours reported by the article. This leaves ample time for all other activities.
In asking students to give a little devotion to their education, professors are being realistic. This is what college is about. So while gaining a quality education here at Utah State, may I suggest taking Math 1010 and giving your professors a break.
