LETTER: Mitt’s chances minimal
To the editor:
In your Wednesday, Feb. 21 paper the question was raised as to whether or not Mitt Romney’s religion is an issue in his presidential campaign. In Mitt Romney we have a man who (if he is familiar with the teachings of his own faith) believes that people have dark skin because of disobedience to God and who thinks that Abraham, a man who was willing to murder his own son at the behest of God, was a good person.
We presently have a “man of faith” in the White House whose critical thinking skills, if he has any, have been strongly influenced, in my opinion, by his ties to organized religion. As for me, I’d prefer to take my chances with an agnostic or atheistic president, but of course, in this country, such a person has no chance of being elected. By the way, I don’t think Mitt Romney does, either.
