LETTER: Morse sees the big picture

Editor,

Many members of the campus community will have an opportunity Tuesday to vote for Wendell Morse in the election for the 4th District seat. In this important race, it may appear that the candidates are difficult to differentiate. At least the Herald Journal could not draw a clear distinction. But I think there are some important differences.

Wendell worked for the university for his entire professional career. He was “one of us” in terms of relying on USU making the right decisions over the long haul so that his job would be secure. Over the 31 years that he worked in Campus Planning at USU, he brought his talent and his energy every day to make the campus environment safe and comfortable. During his last 10 years here, he represented USU in community issues and with the Legislature. He will be able to give USU and Cache Valley a voice in the Utah House of Representatives as no other candidate can, because he has done it for over a decade. He understands that importance of providing long-term solutions, not just quick fixes.

As a member of the community, he has continued to be service-oriented after his early retirement from USU. Recently he has helped work through planning and community impact issues associated with the Eccles Ice Arena, and the new fire station being built adjacent to campus. He also consulted with the county in building the new County Office Complex, helping to preserve the old Court House as part of the fabric of our downtown.

If you want to vote for the candidate that sees the big picture, that knows how to help build a long-term future, and that shares your values and perspectives, try Wendell.
