LETTER: No write-in candidates?

Editor,

I think the elections are a joke and some of those running for ASUSU offices are not taking the position(s) seriously (I realize that a few do take it seriously and I commend them, but they are far too few).

Consequently, I would like to express my right to vote for someone else. However, in this year’s ballot there is no spot for a write-in candidate, and I cannot vote for someone who I feel happens to be qualified for office. Many of those I have talked to about this think that voting for a write-in or third party candidate is throwing away my vote.

I say it enables me to state that I do not like the choices presented to me on the ballot and not throw my vote to someone I don’t think will do a good job. Please put write-ins back on the ballot!
