LETTER: Parking handled snow well

Editor,

I would like to recognize the extraordinary work done by the Parking Office and its director, Lisa Leishman, on Tuesday, Jan. 11.

As campus was being shut down, the parking staff were out in the elements directing traffic and assisting others. Although the traffic was bad and it took me a while to get off campus, I was safe and warm in my car.

Lisa and her staff put their own warmth and comfort aside in order to stand out in the snow and make sure people got out of large parking lots without problems. This is dedication.

The Parking Office is too often singled out as uncaring and bureaucratic. I think Tuesday proved that this is not the case. They have a difficult job to do and, in my opinion, they do it well. Perhaps we should all be a little more appreciative.
