LETTER: Scootah Steve a big success

Vance Reeder

To the editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Steve Weller on a successful comic strip. His comic strip, Scootah Steve, has been recognized to the point that it is starting to get complaints. One of the best comic strips in circulation today is Pearls Before Swine. It receives more complaints than any other strip. Complaints are music to the ears of cartoonists. It tells them that their strip is being read and that it is held to some standard, all good signs. The best sign of all is that with every complaint there are at least 100 people who enjoyed and appreciated the cartoonist’s perspective. For those of you who do the complaining, thank you. We appreciate and enjoy every complaint we can get. But remember, comic strips are based on over-exaggerations, stereotyping and poking fun of everything. Once again, I would like to congratulate you, Steve, for the steps your comic strip has taken and ask you to continue poking fun of everything you can find. The majority of us really do appreciate it.
