LETTER: Speeders are the bad guys
Dear Editor,
In the headline story from Wednesday’s Statesman (Jan. 31), “Control the need for speed,” Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Stewart Hunsaker is quoted as saying some drivers get mad because law enforcement should be out “catching bad guys” instead of pulling people over for speeding. In my opinion, the speeders and other negligent drivers are the BAD GUYS. Have you ever spent time in the hospital recovering from a traffic accident? What about the broken bones, crushed nerves, smashed spinal columns, cracked skulls, inability to walk, think or behave as you once did following an accident? You will never be the same again, doomed to suffer from that accident over and over again as long as you live – if you live. Just who are the bad guys?
