LETTER: Support for Pres. Bush

Editor,

In Mark Ellis’ letter to the editor of March 26 he accused “a gullible and uniformed majority of American citizens” of being “war criminals.” He accused President Bush of the same thing.

President Bush is not defying the United Nations. He is merely taking the steps the United Nations was supposed to take, based on its resolutions during the past 12 years.

Also, we have not launched a surprise attack on Iraq. Rather, we were very specific on what actions Saddam Hussein could have taken to avert war, and he rejected them.

President Bush and his staff are not guilty of war crimes. They are guilty of trying to rid the world of one of its many dictators. As 9/11 showed us, sometimes, when you’re losing the peace, war may be our only, if not best, hope.
