Letter to the Editor: Parking woes should stop during events

Editor,

As the aggie faithful celebrated a well earned victory on Monday Dec 5, many of us left the game cheerful until that is, we arrived to the Resident Hall parking and found that the lot was scattered with cars that had been given a ticket for parking without a pass. As I looked around every 8 in 10 cars had been given a ticket. Now just a rough estimate, the tickets are about 20 dollars if paid within 1 week. There must have been at least 40 cars with ticket. Lets do do the math. 20 times 40 that amounts to 800 dollars. That will be real nice for the transportation budget I would imagine.

As another person writes to state his opinion on the subject of the parking and transportation services and their poor management and understanding. The tickets should have never been given in the first place. There is limited parking around the spectrum and all parking lots should be open during sporting events no matter the given day or time. Another note of interest is that this certain parking lot has a drop down gate which is never used. You would begin to think that if you didnt want people to park in there you would close the gate, but just my opinion I guess. As I plan to do with a slew of many others, the office will be hearing my complaint and appeal.

As I close my letter to the editor, the parking and transportation management is being called to action. To throw all parking tickets in this certain parking lot and to revise their parking procedures and guidelines to include exception during sporting events.
