LETTER: Trees vandals should confess

Editor,

This Holiday Season Organizations and Traditions along with the brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon sponsored the “Have a Heart Tree” which many of you have probably noticed is laying down now on the Quad.

Hopefully you, as well, know that tree was exclusively for charity and students were to have the opportunity Monday, Dec. 6, through the end of finals, to purchase ornaments for $1 to decorate and/or put there picture inside and hang it on the tree. All the proceeds were already lined up to go to local needy families here in Cache Valley, who will now receive no aid.

If you are still interested in donating please come to the Organizations and Traditions, TSC 340. Now, you may not know that the tree was vandalized somewhere between Saturday evening and Sunday midday. Not only was it knocked over, breaking the newly custom-made stand, but also, the 3-foot heart was stolen off the top.

What a way to brighten someone’s holidays, here are a couple of organizations trying to benefit the less fortunate, and one or more socially, irresponsible deviants choose to destroy this effort. If you are the one who took it or know who did, you have until noon on Friday to contact either myself or the Organizations and Traditions office. No questions will be asked charges will not be pressed.

However, if you choose to keep it, you will be caught (Quad Webcam), and believe me, you will be prosecuted.

Safe and Happy Holidays to all!
