LETTER: USU basketball fans not stupid
Dear Editor,
I am writing in response to the bone-headed comments written by your staff following the Utah State University/BYU basketball game. I read a column by Casey Hobson that demonstrates how your staff tries to make news, not report it.
The whole thrust of this column was how stupid we, USU fans, are. “That’s when stupidity reached a new height.” This is a direct quote from your paper. “But if this many come out, I’ll live with it,” is what Coach Morrill said about it.
Why is The Statesman, in two separate articles, stirring up a controversy? There is a current movement to restore the “A” to the hill, in the name of tradition. Let your uneducated writers know the toilet paper is also a tradition, one that got us on Sportscenter.
The fans at USU are the greatest sixth man in the conference. If the team isn’t worried about it then why are you? If you think this is the dumbest thing to happen at the Spectrum then permit me to give you a brief history lesson. We have had everything from nude pin-ups to streakers during games. And let us not forget the grand-daddy of them all, the paint bomb in the air vent.
If The Statesman is going to trash USU students, then I think you should at least get your facts straight. We can be a lot more stupid, after all we read your paper.
