LETTER: Vascetomy or virtue?

Dear Editor,

With last weeks article entitled “Almost Every Man Ought To Have A Vasectomy” stated that they were quick, nearly free, close to painless and would solve the problem of abortion and unwanted children growing up in unwanted homes. The growing trend of “free love” is wonderful and all the ill effects (unwanted children and STDs) are over come with a thin peace of plastic (or a quick surgery).

I have learned that there are many more dangers by having sex outside of marriage. I have seen too many friends go through too much to ignore it. The greatest threats are: lack of respect and trust for themselves, for others and pain to those they love. Are not the qualities of confidence, respect and trust the traits we must have for a strong relationship? If we think that we can so the things that know have destroyed others’ lives and we will be spared the same consequences for “whatever” reason – then we are stupid.

Unlike vasectomies that are so easily obtained, virtue is so much harder to retain or reobtain, but so worth it. The bad effect of no morals is like hunting raptors – when you have your sights on one – the second one kills you from the side. Or, at least that’s the way I see it.
