LETTER: Vote yes for Proposition One
To the editor:
I’d like to thank The Statesman for their coverage of the Proposition One, Cache Valley Critical Lands Bond, in the Oct. 15 issue. As both Dave Rayfield and Christopher Cokinos stated in the article, this is a very important issue for the students and greater USU community. This bond will protect more areas of open space, wildlife habitat and family farms through conservation easements. These will be areas like the Zollinger Fruit Farm above River Heights, which will soon be surrounded by houses constructed on the Providence bench.
Many students and members of the USU community come and stay in Cache Valley because the characteristics that make it a unique and special place. Proposition One aims at protecting these characteristics so future generations can enjoy the true magnificence of Cache Valley. I can certainly afford “two pizzas worth of money” knowing that 10 million dollars is going to protect air and water quality, scenic views, family farms, wildlife habitat and community trails. Please vote yes for Proposition One on Nov. 4.
