LETTER: We need consistency

Editor,

In the Utah State Housing Resident Handbook, it states that “overnight guests of the opposite sex are prohibited.”

Imagine, if you will, our confusion when we found an invitation for a fun-filled evening of “Condom Bingo” on the door of our apartment at Bullen Hall. Whether or not you have moral issues with the subject, this “game” seems to be promoting actions that are in direct contradiction with the contract that all housing residents signed.

The bingo “place markers” and prizes, which are more than likely paid for by housing resident activity fees, make this issue seem like a game, and it just isn’t.

It seems like a blatant misuse of our money, a mockery of a very serious issue, and a promotion of something that is disallowed in our contracts. We should know what rules we’ll be living by, and we expect that these rules will be followed and upheld. We believe that most Bullen Hall residents support our stand against this travesty.

This issue, and the $480 increase in yearly rent, is discouraging us from renewing our contracts.
