LETTERL Liberalism schmiberalism

To the editor:

Week after week I read the Liberalism 1010 article, and week after week I grow more disgusted. Each week the author presents topics that are of great importance in today’s society, but fails each and every time to make any truthful or relevant point. Each article starts on track, and then quickly turns into a masquerade of how the government is failing us, how the Bush administration is deceiving us, or how conservatives are destroying “mainstream” America. Enough is enough!

It’s a weekly bash session on conservatives with no or very little factual basis! Why is there no conservative article to rebuke and defend against these arguments and false accusations? The fact that I am from Idaho, or that I am LDS, or that I am a combat veteran who has served in Iraq has helped define my stance on most issues. So in defense of my conservative allies (I know there are some on this campus) I pose a few questions to the Liberalism 1010 followers. Where does it say the government should be involved in every aspect of our lives? Why do we now believe or expect the government to take care of us? Why should we not be proud of what we have done and are doing in Iraq? We have removed a terrible regime, and are currently confronting evil and danger that would love nothing more than to come to our beloved country and cause death and destruction!

Why are we to change our views or ideals when “Hollywood” or “mainstream” America doesn’t agree with or think we are out of date? I know liberals will be disappointed to hear, but conservatives do not dictate their principles and ideals on the latest Gallup Polls, or what current trends tell us “what ought to be”. I believe arguments and debate are essential to our very way of Government, but week after week we are fed nothing but liberalism. Editor, Statesman, or whom it may concern, please provide to us both sides of the issues, not just the side generally taken by media.

As for liberalism 1010, get your facts straight!
