Local businesses meet and greet

Adam Brown

On Wednesday, 51 local businesses gathered together for the 92nd annual business expo at the Sunburst Lounge of the Taggart Student Center. The Cache Chamber of Commerce conference made it free to the public, and the businesses only had to pay a small fee to set up a table and tell what their businesses are all about.

It was less formal than many expos, but still a professional gathering. The expo had a simple job which the businesses wanted to complete: “To promote themselves and their products to the community,” said Collette Hooley, the representative for Window Welder.

Window Welder was one of the many local businesses presen t. It is a family-operated business that fixes or adds car accessories.

Even with the great diversity from AFLAC to Zions Bank, everyone had one thing in common, Collette Hooley said, “Meeting new people and making good loyal customers.”

There was much more than just introductions happening at the expo. There was some delectable jamming jazz, provided by the live band Jazz Pudding and free doughnuts, courtesy of Tommie’s Donuts.

Many people came to “see the caliber of the professions,” said Jeanette Hooley, who was in charge of the expo. There were also many benefits for the business-to-business relations.

“[We can] mingle with competitors and compare notes,” said Russ Davis, circulation director for The Herald Journal. “They have some services that can help us, and we have some services that can help them.”
