Men’s soccer looks for first win

Despite a 2-1 overtime loss to the University of Utah on Saturday, the Utah State University men’s club soccer team has plenty of confidence going into their second home game.

USU will be playing Utah Valley State College on Thursday.

“We decided we played really well against Utah,” said forward Neal Obray. “We don’t think they [Utah] earned their goals.”

The Aggies found themselves a man down with five minuets remaining in the first half against Utah when Treagan White received a red card.

“It made us stronger knowing we can come together being a man down,” Obray said.

Obray said UVSC will be a tough team to play and they recently beat Utah.

“We talked to the Utah coach and he said UVSC has some strong players,” he said.

Obray said the team is not sure what to expect, but the teams should probably be pretty evenly matched.

USU expects to play a physical game but hopes to avoid costly fouls.

“We just hope we keep our heads,” Obray said. “Everyone is doing well in practice. Every time we play it is competitive and rough.”

Thursday’s game will be the team’s second home game in a row. It only has four the entire season. Obray said he expects a lot of fans will be out to support the team, even though it is a Thursday night.

“Unless they have class, people can either sit home or come out and watch the game,” Obray said. “We expect good attendance.”

The game begins at 4:30 p.m. on Tower Field.

“We’re fired-up to play,” Obray said.
