Men’s tennis concludes play at tournament
The Utah State men’s tennis team concluded play with a number of wins before bowing out at the University of Utah Intercollegiate tournament Friday in Salt Lake City.
Senior Sven Poslusny was the only Aggie remaining in the main singles draw to start the day. He defeated Ben Tasevac from the University of Utah (6-3, 6-1) in the quarterfinals before falling to the tournament’s top seed, Slim Hamza (6-3, 6-2) of Utah.
In consolation play, junior Fredrik Peterson triumphed in the morning over teammate freshman Zeno Kastelic (6-3, 6-1). He then battled Todd Fought of Weber State in the consolation semifinals before falling 6-4, 6-0.
Sophomore Curran Wearmouth teamed with Kastelic to defeat Weber State’s Oliver Good and Ben Rode in a nail biter 9-8(5) to earn a berth in the consolation doubles semifinals. They were then defeated by Weber State’s Ryan Garner and Anthony Trabert (8-3).
The Aggies travel to Las Vegas next week for the Intermountain Tennis Association Mountain Regional tournament to conclude their fall season.
