OUR VIEW: Finally, a lost and found is in progress

Ever had trouble finding a lost item on campus? If you have, then chances are that the main reason you’ve struggled to regain your misplaced object was because you couldn’t even find the lost and found.

In the past, each makeshift lost and found was usually a janitor’s closet or a maintenance room. If an inordinate amount of time passed after an item was lost, some custodians would rightfully take custody of the unclaimed property. Meanwhile, you may have ambled all over campus from building to building, desperately searching for each lost and found to recover your dearly departed item.

Well, no more. USU has finally consolidated all lost and founds into one great Lost and Found. This special and sacred storehouse of sorts will be home to all lost items on all parts of campus. Now, students can go to this centralized location to retrieve that special $180 textbook, those hand-knitted mittens, that fanny pack that shouldn’t be worn anyway, and even that Gucci wallet full of Benjamins.

Sure, we could just give you tips on how not to forget your stuff, but they wouldn’t help much. Some people are just absent-minded and forgetful, and even if they tell themselves that they won’t forget their jacket hung over the chair with care, they’ll still forget it. We support the university’s efforts to cater to these memory-challenged individuals with a new one-stop lost and found.
