OUR VIEW: Take a deep breath, the end is very close
If the return from Thanksgiving Break and the thought of impending final exams has left you wanting to curl up in a dark corner and sob hysterically – you’re not alone. While it seems the rest of our society is enjoying a magical season of joy, forgiveness and wonder, students all over the country are experiencing despair, fatigue and extreme stress.
It seems almost unfair that Thanksgiving Break comes so soon before the end of the semester. Students are given a prolonged glimpse into the world of normal sleep patterns, home-cooked meals and attempts at a social life. Holiday songs fill the air waves and retailers slash prices, simply adding to the joys of not attending class. Deep breaths are taken and smiles return.
And then, it’s over. Come Monday morning after break, students have returned to what feels like tripled work loads. Project deadlines are suddenly a week closer. Cramming begins, eyes glaze over and shots of caffeine zap bloodstreams. An overwhelmed mood seems to settle over the entire campus.
The good news is there is an end in sight. Twelve weeks have passed and only three remain. The remaining days of class might bring a temporary loss in sanity, but it also means the end is near. Another set of classes will be completed forever, and a few more credits will be added to your graduation belt.
So, relax. Breathe. And uncurl from the fetal position, because it’s almost here. You’re only three projects and five exams away.
